More moms staying home

More and more area moms are looking for ways to work from home, to spend more time with their little ones.

Matalie Mitschke used to work for a bank, but after having her daughter and sending her off to day care for a few months she decided to make a change.

Matalie didn’t only want to stay at home and raise 19 month old Grace, she wanted to contribute more to the family. She decided to start selling flameless scents for the home for the brand Scentsy.

“It just helps, less stress, you know to be able to continue to do this and not make it’s every month is pay check to pay check,” said Matalie.

Although Matalie took a dramatic pay cut, she says not having to worry about the cost of day care is a big help.

“I wasn’t happy there, and having bringing here to day care, and the cost of day care.”

Matalie says not only does selling Scentsy from home benefit her family, it also allows her to have all the same benefits of working a regular job.

“Meet new people, still have a social life outside of the home, not just totally be involved with our daughter.”

After selling these products and being able to spend more time with her daughter, she isn’t considering going back to a 9 to 5 anytime soon.

“It would be really hard, but maybe one day when were done having kids and they’re in school, but it would probably be more eleven to three so I could still drop them off and pick them up after school.”
